Intro
Hi, everyone. Thank you for visiting my blog!
This article is a guide to “der Kóffer” cafe in Honjo-Azumabashi, Tokyo. It’s in the nearest cafe Tokyo Skytree, so you will be able to go there after sightseeing around the Tokyo Skytree. In addition, you can see the cafe’s Instagram and know the cafe’s atmosphere before you visit there. I hope you will like this cafe!
Interior Design
Once you enter the cafe, you will be able to feel a warm ambience. It’s not too much to say that this cafe is a Japanese orthodox retro cafe. Because the cafe has some retro interiors such as the leather chairs, wooden tables, an amber colored wall and stuff like that. Moreover, there are a lot of decorations that are perfect for the cafe like a tapestry and ornaments. These items are collected by the cafe’s owner. You will think you want to take a lot of photos! And you can have a comfortable time.
Menus
Speciality
If you visit the cafe, you should order a homemade pancake from a lot of menus. It’s the most popular menu at the cafe. The pancake is slowly baked on the copper plate. It’s so fluffy and naturally sweet! The pancake has a simple visual and more smooth surface unlike an American pancake. It’s better if you put butter, maple syrup and whipped cream on the pancake. If you want to change from maple syrup into honey or add vanilla ice cream, it’s available. Even something as simple as an ingredient you will realize the cafe’s staff’s passion.
Recommendation
I’ve been to the cafe many times, and my recommendation is a cold drink like iced lemonade in a glass of “Aderia retro”. It’s a tableware brand that has a long history in Japan. These glasses have cute flower patterns that feel like the Showa era. Most Japanese of the Showa era used to use dishes like these patterns. You’re able to be available these glasses at the cafe! If you use it, please ask the cafe’s staff. These glasses give a true Japanese atmosphere more for you.
Of course, coffee is also my recommendation! The blended coffee tastes a little pungent and easy to drink for everyone. Besides the blended coffee, there are some single-origin coffee and arranged coffee like cafe au lait. So you try to drink these coffee!
How to Get There
If you are going to the cafe, you should get off the train at Honjo-Azumabashi station. After going out the A2 exit, you will see the Tokyo Skytree in front of you. After that, you go straight for about a few seconds and you’ll see the cafe at the corner. The brown’s signboard will serve as a landmark for you. It’s located right beside the station exit. Then, there is a menu with a lot of photos outside the cafe, so it might be easy for you to enter. Have a great time at the cafe!
